JewelKhata is an offline, encrypted app for Indian jewellery shops with a dedicated girvi (gold loan) register. Every customer who comes to release an item means opening the register, finding the date, counting months and doing the interest on a calculator. One wrong month on a big amount is either a loss for you or an argument with the customer.
When pledged items are written in the same bahi as sales and udhar, old girvi entries get lost. At the end of the year nobody is sure how many items are still in the locker and against which amount.
A girvi register shows who needed money, how much, and what gold is lying in your shop. A paper book or a cloud app that anyone with your login can open is not the right place for that.
Every girvi entry lives in its own register, separate from sales and orders. When you add an entry you record the customer, a description of the item, its weight and purity, the amount you gave, the date and the monthly interest %. That is all the app needs.
From then on, each entry shows Interest till today and Total due today. When a customer walks in to release a chain or a pair of bangles, you open the entry and read the number. Girvi records are sensitive. JewelKhata stores them only on your phone, encrypted with AES, behind your PIN, fingerprint or Face ID and auto-lock. There is no cloud, no account and no server — so there is nothing for anyone to hack or request from us. Because nothing is stored in the cloud, there is no online recovery. Take regular password-encrypted backups inside the app and keep the file safely (for example on Google Drive or WhatsApp). You can restore it on a new phone with the backup password.
